A futon is a Japanese word used to describe a sleeping space. A traditional Japanese futon can be stored away during the day and taken out to sleep on at night.
One of the futon's main advantages is that it is foldable and takes up little space, which perfectly fits with the minimalistic Japanese way of living. Futons are mostly placed on tatami mats, which provide a softer base for the futon.
Karup Design took the Japanese tradition and added a Danish touch to it. Our futon mattresses are thicker than the traditional Japanese futons, and the fillings vary between different futon types. But they do have one thing in common: They are highly versatile and can be stowed away if needed.
